After a Coroners Court case ends, you may be able to access the coroner’s findings or other information from the case file.
This page explains what information may be available, when restrictions may apply, and how findings may be shared with the media or public.
Access to coroner’s findings
The coroner’s findings are documents and can be accessed by members of the public after the Coroners Court case ends. Some information may not be published or released if the coroner has made a non-publication order, or if other publication restrictions apply.

How the media is informed
The coroner’s finding may be sent to the media if:
- the media has requested a copy of the finding
- there is a need to make the public aware of a comment and/or recommendation that may help prevent future deaths.
If there is media interest related to death of your family member, you can choose whether or not to speak to media.
