Family Group Conference
After
Overview
This page explains what may happen after a Family Group Conference. Learn how plans are monitored, what happens if circumstances change, and how you may be able to receive updates on the young person's progress.
After the conference
What happens after a Family Group Conference depends on how the plan decided:
- If the plan is overseen by the Youth Court, the child or young person will go back to court regularly to update the judge on their progress and show how they are completing the plan.
- If the plan is monitored outside of the Youth Court, police and Oranga Tamariki will make sure the child or young person follows the plan.
- If the plan breaks down or there is further offending, the case may be referred back to police or the Youth Court to decide what happens next.
You’ll also be asked if you’d like to receive updates about the child or young person’s progress, and who you’d like those updates from.
