Financial support for attending a Family Group Conference

There are financial support options available for victims of youth crime, and those who attend Family Group Conferences.

Travel costs

Oranga Tamariki may be able to help with practical costs to help you attend a Family Group Conference like petrol vouchers accommodation.

You can ask the Youth Justice Coordinator about what support is available in your situation.

Victim Reimbursement Scheme

Attending a Family Group Conference can be a financial burden. This can include loss of wages, loss of time, or paying for childcare.

If you do take part in a Family Group Conference, Oranga Tamariki can help you cover some of the costs.

The Youth Justice Coordinator can help you apply for a repayment of $160.

Reparation

As part of a Family Group Conference, you can ask for reparation to be considered.

This means the child or young person may be asked to pay for any harm or damage done to you or your property.

Victims Assistance Scheme (VAS)

The Victims Assistance Scheme can support you as a victim of youth crime and your support people (with limits). It may help with financial assistance for travel and a court attendance allowance.
